Book one night on this boat, not two. The two-night version brings the ship back to the pier each day to change over passengers, which a guest describes bluntly and a second guest confirms from the other direction: the entire crew swapped between their first and second night, and they preferred the first lot. That is the single most useful thing we can tell you about Signature, and it is not in any listing.

Twelve cabins, verified across sources, which makes this one of the genuinely small boats rather than a mid-size ship marketed as intimate. The hull is wood and the launch year is 2013, both from the operator alone. Nobody publishes the capacity. One guest writes that the group runs two Signature ships each carrying up to thirty-two people, and it may well be right, but a guest review is not a source and we are not going to turn a stranger’s aside into a specification. Decks and length are unpublished too. A jacuzzi, a spa, kayaking and balconies are all independently confirmed; the pool and the gym rest on the operator’s word.

The bay is worth a note. One source says Bai Tu Long. Several guests write about Ha Long, several others about Bai Tu Long, and one who liked the trip praises kayaking to a private beach without saying which water it was in. Our record files it under Bai Tu Long and we have not been able to corroborate that independently.

The cabins

Four grades are sold. Three come with sizes attached, all single-source: four Signature Senior Suites at 28 m², one Exclusive Family Suite at 32 m² that takes three, and one Elite Family Suite at 51 m² that takes four. Every one is described as ocean view with a balcony. That accounts for six of the twelve cabins. The fourth grade, the Junior Suite, carries a price and nothing else: no size, no bed, no count. Nothing we hold says whether the other six rooms are Junior Suites. The size figures across sources land on 28, 32, 45 and 19 m²; the 28 and 32 match grades above, the 45 matches none, and the 51 appears in no source count. If you are booking the Junior Suite, ask for its square metres, deck and bed type against the name on your invoice.

Two guests report ending up somewhere other than what they booked. One paid $50 on arrival for an upgrade to a two-room cabin with two balconies and thought it excellent value. The other was put in the honeymoon suite after a booking mix-up and got a large private balcony off the stern out of it. Both were happy. It does suggest grade assignment here is looser than the price list implies, which cuts in your favour or against it depending on the day.

What it costs

Read from a listing on 6 August 2026, per cabin, one night, and these are highest-published rather than promotional rates: the Junior Suite is $260 and the Signature Senior Suite $286, each for two. The Exclusive Family Suite is $530 for three and the Elite Family Suite $720 for four. We do not recommend the two-night version, but for the record it runs from $500 for the Junior Suite to $1,370 for the Elite Family.

Two sharing the Junior Suite pay $130 each. The $260 cabin is under $310, the middle of the cheapest one-night doubles across the 63 boats on this site that had one on 8 October 2026; 53 of them start dearer.

Where it costs you

We collected 39 reviews and read the 21 written in English. That is a thin sample and we would rather say so than dress it up. Twenty-seven are five-star, three are one-star and two are two-star.

The bottom sits on the operation. The two-night structure is the substantive one, and the guest who raised it says they would have given four stars to a single night. Food is the other repeated theme, from a guest who wanted Vietnamese food in Vietnam and got something else. One guest describes a cruise manager who would not wait five minutes for them at a stop and left with the group, explaining that the policy was not to wait. A four-star guest, who otherwise liked the trip, says their manager was occasionally rude and not inclusive of people from different cultures. There is a review that is simply about restaurant service being poor and the staff being unfriendly, which is the most ordinary complaint on the file and probably the most representative of what goes wrong.

Against that, the guides are the strongest signal in the good reviews. They are named individually, over and over, by different parties on different dates, and that pattern is hard to fake. Two guests separately say the kitchen took a vegetarian in the group seriously and rebuilt the menu around them.

The itinerary, and the pier

There is no published stop list for this route. None. We have a route code and two trip lengths and nothing else, which for a boat you are about to trust with your one night is a real gap, so ask for the timed itinerary before you pay a deposit.

Nobody publishes the departure pier either, and this is the detail that trips people up in Ha Long. Tuan Chau Marina and the Ha Long International Cruise Port are twenty minutes apart in traffic and drivers routinely confuse the two; Hon Gai, over the Bai Chay bridge on the other side of the water, is a third option that some Bai Tu Long boats use. Get the pier name in writing, and check the ship name on the voucher while you are there. The photographs we hold show the name lettered three different ways on the hull, and we cannot tell you from them whether that is one boat or several.

Who it suits

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone booking two nights on the assumption that the second one is more of the first. It is not, on the evidence we have, and the daily return to port is the reason.
