Eighteen boats on this bay call themselves five-star. The word is unregulated here, so this page sets out what actually changes as the price rises, and what does not change at all.
Luxury is an unregulated word on this bay. A 2013 junk with new bed linen claims it, and so does a 2025 ship with a twenty-five-metre pool. Between those two lies roughly four hundred dollars a night, and nothing on the operators’ own websites will tell you which one you are looking at.
Across the listings we track, advertised rates run from about $150 to about $690 per person. Sorting specifications against price, four things improve reliably as you pay more: the cabin, the food, the number of crew per guest, and how quiet your night is. Three heavily marketed things do not improve at all.
Beaches are the clearest case. The same handful of swimming stops serve boats at every price. Cave visits are allocated by the provincial authority, so a $690 cabin and a $150 cabin walk into Sung Sot through the same entrance. Kayaking is run by the same local operators either way, and is often included on cheaper boats and charged as an extra on expensive ones.
The practical reading: above roughly $380 a night you are buying the cabin, the food and the crew. You are not buying access to a different bay.
